A trip to Turkey
Last December Mitja an I decided to go to Turkey for some nice cross-country flights. So two weeks ago, he took a flight to Istanbul and I to Antalya and we met at Artemis Yoruk Hotel in Pamukkale. While staying there for ten days, we had always sunny and very hot weather. Over all also the flying conditions had been good, only the wind got very strong in the afternoon. There are two possible take-offs in this area. Most days the local tandem pilots gave us a lift up to the lower take-off. As they had a very old bus, it felt like being picked up by an school bus of the early last century ;-) From this take-off it was not so easy to get up high enough for starting a cross country flight. But after ten days with much time sweating in the sun, a lot of hitch hiking and some unexpected landing places, Mitja got two flights over 100km (flight1 , flight2). Thanks to the very helpful Turkish people and the very well working Minibus system, getting back to the hotel was most times really easy. Unfortunately the most days we reached the ground to soon, thus we booked more relaxing than we hoped… (Livetracking in Redbullxalps and a nice pool in the hotel had been good alternatives)
Finally we enjoyed a nice week and got some new experiences.
Best regards
Mitja and Dominic
