Another most successful day for our NOVA-Pilots in Switzerland yesterday in Fiesch. Urs Haari rides his NOVA SECTOR to the lead in the annual Championchip Sportclass with a 240+ FAI Triangle. He is even 3th now in the Open Class. Toni Brügger on NOVA PHANTOM scores best in Swiss Standard Class that day and misses the overall lead only by 25 points – well the year is not over yet:-).

Tonis uge FAI Triangles score only little more then flat ones in Switzerland – pitty, he would lead by far. Toni won the national xc-contest standard class last year and is this years international best NOVA Pilot in standard class short before the last good days. It’s not the wing that makes a winner – we know that. But it is bloody cool to see those extraterrestrial pilots choose NOVA. Very warm congrats to our friends and teammates, also in Austria and Italy for the fantastic flights the same day.
Even though Urs is not a Team Pilot, he would be, if he wasn’t our swiss NOVA Distributor and Captain of the Swiss NOVA xc-team (High Adventure Serial Team). When he was young, he sat in saleplanes and started a serious run for world champion in paragliding competition. After decades of not doing comps he found himself trapped in the thrill of cross country flying – from the start with EN-B Gliders. And he showed all his experiance and skills in flying fast and getting a full day done in the airs. This year he preferred to fly the NOVA SECTOR, nobody did ask him why, and it is not important though. But he shows, how to do it – he never went to the hot spots but enjoyed flying with friends. By the way he ended now on top of the leaderboard in the sportsclass. What a hunk.
Toni started only this year joining more often our company on big flights. Before he just went there and did his incredible scorings. He still is a very joung man – not even fifthy:-) I like very much doing nice lines over the ridges with him – it is not easy, he is just too fast and his instincts for the best line is fantastic. Sometimes I have the feeling, he would do better alone as he did before. In the pack he sometimes leaves the best line, maybe just to have more fun. I do have the feeling too he doesn’t care if he loose a couple of ten kilometers that way. Like he did yesterday. He did not let Urs with the higher rated wing out of his sight. Toni managed all the difficulties of the day and was up to close the same 240+ FAI in the same time! And believe me, that was really something yesterday. More then one hotshot with a Boom 11 or Enzo/Zeno left the scene not on the goal. Toni and Urs stretched the limits of late waypoints to new records, I would never have done that. But then he choose to fly low to a spot (I would have done the same maybe – I like that one) that left him half an hour behind. He did the best he could. He returned shorter and finished the day together with Urs in the last sunlight.
Find a juicy story at Urs flight in the server, more of them high altitude late summer pictures I could watch for hours.
Thanks my friends for the possibility to follow you from my canes – I will be back soon, Roland
